Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino

Spirituality and tourism combine in the most genuine  expression of each person.  CASA FRANCESCANA enjoys the beauty of this holy place,the  Sanctuary of  Madonna del  Frassino. It is undoubtly the most important in the history  of Peschiera del Garda.
	The Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino is certainly one of the greatest monuments in this area. Its origins goes  back to 11th May  1510 when the Madonna appeared to the peasant Bartolomeo Broglia in "Contrada Pigna ",outside the  walls of Peschiera del Garda.
Inside the Sanctuary, erected between  1511 and  1514, in Rennaissance style,its worthwhile seeing the canvas   by  Farinati (1522-1606); the first three altars on the left and the altar dedicated to the  Madonna; a painting  attributed to Zeno da Verona (fifth altar on the left) and a canvas byAstolfi (the Holy Sacrament at  S. Francesco's chapel). Over the  choir you can admire the  beautiful  Orchestra del Callido.
Our Lady's Chapel It has been the first little church dedicated to  Madonna of the Frassino. The miraculous clay image of our Lady lays on the  historical ash tree,where she appeared.
	The stuccoes and the decorations go back to 1610. The canvas on the altar burlap on the altar is by Farinati (1560). The canvas  on the walls are partly by  Beranza da Salò and partly by  some modern painters . The chapel for confessions (Penitenziaria) and the two cloisters called "Dei pesci" and "Degli uccelli" are worthy of been seen.
